ABOUT US
On occasion of fire in the town of Surat, in the year 1837, entire Surat was adversely affected. So large sum was subscribed for the relief of poor inhabitants of Surat , by M/s Jamsedji Jeejeebhoy sons . Sheth Tapidas Moolchandas , sheth Kundaas Mathoorradas , Sheth Himatram Dariam and they appointed Mahajan of Hindoos ( Mahajan Committee ) at Surat. The name of the first team of Mahajan were as under.
- Sheth Manekchand Rupchand Shah.
- Sheth Motichand Vachchutchand.
- Sheth Atmaram Bhukhndas.
- Sheth virzdas vithaldaas.
- Sheth Dolatdas Tribhovandas.
- Sheth Maghji Habichand .
- Sheth Himatram Diaram.
- Sheth haribhai Shamaldas .
- Sheth Haribhoy Bucktidas.
The Mahjans appointed, distributed grains , cloths and Building Materials and other necessaries to the poor people of Surat. Thus the ancient Trust Viz. Hindu Charity Fund – was established and rendered the services to needy Surat Citizen.

The property known as THAKORBAAG, co-owned by Sir C V Mehta and Late Sheth Sir Purushottamdas family, was donated to start a Maternity Home in the name of Bai Ambalaxmiand Bai Diwalibai Maternity Home.The valuable property was gifted to Hospsital by Late Sheth Shri Rameshbhai Saraiya and Shri nanubhai Mehta and their family, for which Hospital is always remained indebted.
Moreover, regular donation is being Hospital is always remained indebted. Moreover, regular donation is being received from Sheth Shri Devidas Kasabwala Trust every year.
Further, the institution received huge amount donation from Shri Ramkrishna Charitable Trust for Shri V N Godhani Dialysis sector. Sai Bhawan was constructed with the help of SaibabaSatsang Mandal. Also, two major Bhagwat Saptah was organized by Goswami Shri Indirabetiji thereby helping collection of huge donation, for which we are very grateful.
Under the leadership of Late Shri Dinaben Ghadiyai-Former Member of Managing Committee, started Lady Visitors Committee, is now being headed by Smt. Yasshviben Jariwala, and Smt. Kishoriben Kapadia which provides Medical Assistance to the needy people.
Former Trustee and well known Chartered Accountant (CA) Shri Hirenbhai Diwann has been kind enough to provide their consultancy services continuously, is highly appreciated.
We are also grateful to Shri Bakulbhai Zaveri, who donated Rs. 61 lacs for dialysis Department. Generous donation was also given to the hospital by Late Dr. Bhupendrabhai Parikh. .

Greetings from Sunil Modi, President and Trustees of The Surat Charity Fund and Sheth Shri P T Surat General Hospital.
THE SURAT CHARITY FUND is an ancient institute of Surat Region . Surat city was badly effected due huge fire in 19th century. Industries of the Surat city were destroyed and human life was at threat. In order to come out
from such hazardous situation, “ THE SURAT HINDU CHARITY FUND TRUST” was established on 20th March 1841 by businessmen community and Bombay based influential personalities, having their roots in Surat. Later, this institution is known as “THE SURAT CHARITY FUND”.
Earlier known as Late Dr. Shantabai Hospital and latterly after joining of Late Dr. Harihar Bhagwanji Bhatt as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) & Surgeon, the Hospital achieved rapid progress. Patients from various provinces such as Khandesh, Interior part of The Surat, Valsad and Bharuch Districts were used to visit the hospital for medical treatment and by the time the hospital was considered to be unique of South Gujarat.
Presently the Hospital is known as ‘BHATT HOSPSITAL” because of dedicated services rendered by Late Dr. Harihar Bhatt.
On receipt of donation from Sheth P T Trust, the Hospital was re-named as ‘ SHETH P T SURAT GENERAL HOSPITAL”.
By phase of time, the city seen rapid progress and development, however due to traffic movement problem near hospital area, its progress got suffocated. For these reasons, I feel happy to announce that the Board of Trustees decided to start new hospital near Madhuvan circle, Adajan.
DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM OF HOSPITAL IN TWO PHASES
FIRST PHASE :
1. Well-equipped Emergency services department & Trauma Center.
2. CT Scan, X-Ray, Sonography and Laboratory department
3. General medicine, General & Laparoscopy surgery department, Neurology & Neuro Surgery department, Spine Surgery, Oncology, Oncology surgery, Orthopedic surgery, Eye department, ENT department and Advanced Gynaec surgery department, physiotherapy Department,Dermatology , Dental department.
4. ICU with most advanced and latest instruments of medico technology, Laminar Air flow, Modular Operation Theatre, Facilitated Sp. Rooms, Semi Sp. rooms and General Ward.
5. Expert Medico services for 24 hours.
6. OPD by eminent Doctors of the city.
7. Two basement parking facility.
8. Arrangement of Pharmacy for providing medical at affordable cost.
